HomeBase Community Hub · Last updated July 21, 2026
This Privacy Policy explains what information HomeBase Community Hub (“HomeBase,” “we,” “our”) collects, why, and how it's handled. HomeBase is built and operated by DGZ Studios. Each HomeBase community is an independent, resident-run platform and is not affiliated with, operated by, or endorsed by any town, school district, township, county, or government agency it lists information about.
Who can use HomeBase
HomeBase is intended for real people 18 years of age or older. We do not knowingly collect information from anyone under 18, and HomeBase does not permit anonymous accounts.
Information we collect
- Account information — your email address, via Google Sign-In, Microsoft Sign-In, or email/password, handled by Firebase Authentication.
- One-time location check — to verify you're a genuine resident of a community before you can post, comment, or list marketplace items, we request your device's location once, at the moment you verify (and again only if you add a second community later). We check that single location against the community's boundary server-side and store only the result — whether you were verified, and when — never your raw coordinates, and never on an ongoing or background basis.
- Content you create — posts, comments, and marketplace listings you choose to submit, along with your display name/initials and the category you select.
- Organization/moderator access requests — if you request to represent a business, school, or civic organization, we collect the information you provide to support that request for admin review.
Official/ingested content
Some content in HomeBase (labeled “Official”) is gathered automatically from public pages published by local government, school district, and public-safety sources, always with a direct link back to the original source. A subset of that content's summary text may be rephrased for brevity using an AI service; this only ever applies to already-public official announcements, never to anything you post or write yourself.
How your information is stored and shared
- Your data is stored in Google Firebase (Firestore, Authentication), operated under Google's own security and privacy practices.
- Posts, comments, and listings you create are visible to other verified residents of your community (and, if marked official or organization-authored, publicly).
- We do not sell your personal information to third parties or use it for third-party advertising.
- We may disclose information if required by law, or to protect the safety of our users or the public.
Your choices
- You can delete content you've posted at any time.
- You can request deletion of your account and associated data by contacting us (below).
- Location permission is only requested at the moment of residency verification — you can decline it, though you won't be able to post, comment, or list items until you verify.
Changes to this policy
If we make material changes to this policy, we'll update the “Last updated” date above and, where appropriate, notify users in-app.
